It is with great pride that our Club salutes Ronald Strong, O.A.M.

A founding member and a Life Member of our Club, Ron was awarded Life Membership of South Coast Branch and Surf Lifesaving NSW.

He has received 2 Citations of Merit from World Life Saving in July 1990 and March 1991.

Shellharbour City Council awarded him the Sports Citizen Award in 1992.

It would be an understatement to say that Lifesaving is in his blood.

His father, Tom Strong, and brother Vic Strong, were both Life Members of Our Club.

His son, Steve Strong, was a past IRB Captain. (Steve now competes with another club but keeps the tradition alive.)

Ron has spent 50+ years dedicated to Lifesaving and it is obvious that he has no intention of stopping. He still regularly attends Club, Branch and State meetings. Is usually always seen at Surf Carnivals and follows the interests of our club with a passion.

On top of all this, Ron spent a couple of years writing the surf club's 50th anniversary publication "Our 1st 50 Years" which was launched on the 18th April 2010. To cap of a great year for our club Ron was awarded Clubman of the Year for the 2009/10 season!

Despite all of the above Ron remains one of nature’s gentlemen. A man that is easily approachable for any assistance or advice.

From all the members past & current at Warilla-Barrack point SLSC - well done Ron
