Junior Surf Lifesaving (Nippers) provides a unique activity for young people to enjoy. It is a program which provides an environment where children can have fun, meet new friends and at the same time gain physical exercise. The children are educated about the beach and its dangers.The main activity for members is run on Sunday morning at 9am from 4th of October to 14th February unless there is a surf carnival. CARNIVALS
Our members have the option to particiate in carnivals. It is up to the family if you would like to take part in Junior carnivals. Nippers are able to compete in all carnivals on the Calendar, less interbranch, which is a district selected team. To be eligible children must complete the open water swim.
JUNIOR PROFICIENCIES
Every junior member is required to participate in this evaluation, conducted by the club, prior to any junior water activity training or competition being undertaken each season. If you are a non-competitior and wish to undetake in the that proficiency please see your age manager.
COMPETITION SKILLS EVALUATION - Open Water Swim- COMPETITORS ONLY
To be eligible for competition, junior members must complete an open water swim. The competition evaluation (open water swim) must be achieved before members are eligible to compete in inter-club competition. This is a minimum standard water proficiency requirement.
The Junior Activities Preliminary Skills Evaluation and the Junior Activities Competition Skills Evaluation are conducted by the club, overseen by an accredited Assessor. slsnsw09_juniors
SURF ECUCATION
Surf Education is a program designed to improve children's knowledge and skills in a number of areas relating to surf awareness and safety.
