A message from our president...
As we know Christmas, is fast approaching. So, I would like to wish all families, our young and not so young members a merry and safe Christmas. Over the past 2 years our surf season has been one big disruption after another due covid. It is only over the past month that have we been able to attend surf carnivals. This is what our members train for to be able to compete at surf carnivals. Also, our juniors on a Sunday morning have had their fair share of days where they could not enter the water.
2022 is not that far away. So, here’s hoping we can all get to the Country, State and Australian Championships, and enjoy the experience. I believe that all the coaches have scheduled extra training sessions leading into to these events. If you are attending these competitions, you are representing your club - Warilla Barrack Point SLSC. At all times you must be respectful and show sportsmanship to your fellow competitors and carnival officials. It would be good if you
thanked the officials as you finish your last event.
We cannot send a team away without a big thanks to the club coaches, members assisting in water safety, age menages and those members who will be officiating at the carnivals. Also, to parents for doing the hard yards in getting the athletes to the venues. We are a Surf Life Saving Club, patrolling Warilla Beach is our top priority. So if you cannot attend your patrol, please arrange for someone to sub for you. Or at least advise your patrol captain.
Over the past 2 years you would have seen the renovations to the clubhouse and now we are nearing completion. There is still some minor work to be done and this will be completed by end of the season.
Remember your committee is working for you. If you can help in any way, please do.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year
Alan (Bevo) Beveridge.
